    Achmea Mortgages acts as an investment manager for various clients. In the context of the services communicated through this website Achmea Mortgages acts as data controller. 
  • Your data in safe and reliable hands

    Your data is processed:

    • for the performance of a contract;
    • in order to take steps at your request prior to entering into a contract;
    • because you have given your (explicit) consent for the processing
    • pursuant to a legal obligation; or
    • because we have a legitimate interest.


    Without your personal data, we are unable to conduct business with you. We consider it important that you are aware how we handle your personal data and what your rights are. This way you can be assured your data is in safe and reliable hands with Achmea Mortgages. 

  • The data we use

    To communicate with you as our client, it is necessary to process your name, email and telephone number. The data we process in this regard is in principle solely business personal data.

    If you are not yet a client of Achmea Mortgages, we could use your contact details to contact you about our services, for marketing purposes or for potential business proposals. In principle, we only process your name, e-mail and your telephone number. In case we enter into a business relation, it is necessary, amongst others due to anti-money laundering laws and regulations, to collect more data. We will inform you in due course on these requirements.

    Have you signed up for an event organised by Achmea Mortgages? In such a case we use your contact details and any additional information to register and keep you informed of the event. During the event, photos or videos can be taken. If you have any objections against this, please inform us.

  • Who we share your data with

    We sometimes transfer your data. We do not sell your data. We may exchange your data with:

    • the bank for payment purposes;
    • valuers, real estate brokers and legal service providers;
    • tax authorities (in the Netherlands as well as other countries), (financial) supervisory authorities;b
    • benchmarking companies;
    • service providers, such as accountants and auditors;
    • our suppliers and business relations (e.g. cloud providers);
    • Internal Audit, Risk and Compliance Achmea B.V.
    • civil-law notaries;
    • our depositary, as prescribed by law;
    •  te Dutch Data Protection Authority (DPA).


    The same privacy rules apply throughout the European Economic Area (EEA). The EEA includes all EU Member States plus Liechtenstein, Norway and Iceland. If it is necessary to transfer data to countries outside the EEA, we do so with the utmost care and we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place.

  • How we ensure that your data are safe with us

    Our website and IT systems are adequately secured. We continuously implement technical and organisational measures to prevent misuse of your data. Our employees have also been given clear instructions on how to handle personal data. In addition, we enter into data processing agreement agreements with our (sub-)processors.
  • How long we retain your data 

    We retain your data for as long as we need them or for as long as required by law. After that we delete your data.
  • Your rights

    Your rights are also provided for by law. You have the right of:

    • access
      • what personal data is being processed for what purpose?
    • rectification
      • Have your data rectified if it is not correct
    • erasure
      • Often, we are unable to erase your data. Because we still need your data, for example, or in order to comply with legal obligations.
    • restrict processing
      • temporarily stop your data from being used for example if you believe that we are not entitled to use your data.
    • data portability
      • Often, this will not apply in the real estate sector as each rental company requires new documentation.
    • object to certain use of your data
      • If you do not wish to receive any more emails containing offers from us, for example. Our e-mails include a link that enables you to opt out of receiving further emails. You can also phone us. In some cases we may need you to explain clearly why you object.

  • Let us know if you wish to exercise your rights

    Send us a letter or email accompanied by a copy of your ID card. Please ensure your national identification number (such as a social security number) is rendered illegible and your passport photo is blanked out. We will respond within one month of receiving your communication.

  • What happens if we cannot resolve the matter together?

    In that case, we’ll forward your complaint to Achmea’s Data Protection Officer. You may also always file your complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority.
  • We can alter this privacy statement

    We may do this in case of a change in the law(s) or rules, for example, or when we develop new products or services.
